Cash, Check, and Credit Card Donations
How about donating to a worthy cause at the same time? Here at RAS/WRO, we believe education should be free, so we don’t charge for giving programs. However, there are many expenses involved in maintaining a facility and we deeply appreciate your donations. If you would like to add your support through a charitable donation, you can do so through the use of PayPal/credit card, check, or cash. We are a 501-C3 organization, meaning all your donation are tax deductible. If you would like to make a gift as part of your estate or a stock transfer, please email us at contact@wro.org. We appreciate your kindness, support and thank you in advance for helping RAS/WRO continuing this important work!- PayPal/credit card. Just click on the link below and give any amount you wish. Just specify that it is a donation in the comment field on the PayPal page. You do not need a PayPal account to use this, a credit card works too.
- Check. You can mail a check payable to RAS to Richland Astronomical Society PO Box 700 Bellville, Ohio 44813. Please include your name and address (or email address) so that we can send a receipt for you tax deduction purposes.
- At the Observatory. You can just drop a few dollars or a check into donation boxes at our observatory events!
Donating a Telescope
If you have a telescope that you’d like to donate, we may be just the place! RAS owned telescopes are used at our events and as loaner telescopes for our new members. This gives our members the opportunity to try telescopes before investing in one. What Type of Telescopes does RAS Accept?
- Telescopes must be in working order. Other than cleaning, they should not be broken..
- Generally, we only accept reflecting telescopes at least 6″ in diameter (the aperture) and higher quality refracting telescopes.
- RAS may also accept donations of eyepieces and other astronomy equipment.
Next Steps
If you wish to donate a scope, you can bring it along to one of public events OR send an email to the club (contact@wro.org) with the following:- A description of the telescope and pictures. Pictures are very helpful so we can determine not only the condition of the telescope, but what kind of telescope you have and where it fits with our current stock of scopes.
- Your general location and whether you’d like us to pick up the scope or drop it off to us.
